A tangle of fibres forming a magnificent fabric and which, although they come from different plants, different worlds, intertwine harmoniously. Their essence lies in the smooth fabric they produce, irrespective of shape, colour or size.
Weaving humanity looks easy, but it requires a bit of magic. Some people pass through our lives unnoticed, while others move into them unbidden.
Each day promises a new encounter. Memory ensures that we are never alone, even in solitude. We meet countless people every daypenetrating or fleeting encounters of common ideals and interwoven destinies, occuring in special places. A host of people drawn toward a similar focal point, embodying the quest for the individual.
Sharing, glowing with and taking on the tinges of the same desire inscribed in the soul and which reveals itself to others. Learning to mobilize the mind, to gather it into a prodigious thought, so that a flame may leap up and bring forth light, like the sun.
With their own particular touch, each person generates such moments, places and special encounters. Coincidences united in a given space, exceeding the limits of this space, filtering through it like imperceptible air, and yet indispensable to life.
A human tapestry that takes shape in multiple places, but which grows and persists only in those whose very fibre exudes ardour and hope.
The experiences we share imbue our lives with meaning. One of the things they teach us is that life is precious. Our life acquires significance when there is someone to recognize it, in whom it finds an echo. This subtle interplay endows the museum with a certain magic. When we succeed in conveying it, the result is a palpable joy. Our museum finds its raison dêtre in bringing so many people together; if not for this capability, it would be devoid of life and meaning, a place merely filled with colours and furniture. Our mission consists in seeking the meaning of things, for others and for ourselves. This is the essence of the Papalote Museum and its wonderful, triumphant exhibition, « Human Tapestry: Meetings with Happy People. »
